Picture

Use this to add bitmapped graphics to your design for documentation purposes. Adding a picture block will bring up a dialog box that allows you to specify the file to add. The file may be in either JPEG format (.jpg), Windows bitmap format (.bmp), or Portable Network Graphics format (.png). Any pictures that are added will be stored in the Site (.symx) File. Because the pictures are stored in Site File, this can slow down download/uploading the Site File. For this reason, keep pictures small and with as few colors as possible to improve download/upload speed. Many image editing programs allow tuning the compression ratios to achieve smaller file sizes. For .bmp files, they will be compressed using a lossless algorithm before downloading, but pictures with 256 (8-bit) or fewer colors tend to compress better. Best results are usually achieved with PNG or JPEG since you can choose appropriate compression settings yourself. Composer does not support graphics formats other than those listed above such as GIF. However, many programs including Microsoft Paint (included with Windows) are available to convert a variety of graphics formats to one of the supported formats. We recommend the PNG format for diagrams and the like and the JPEG format for photo-realistic images.
