Split-band Compressor Limiters

The Split-band compressor lends itself to any application requiring full-bandwidth dynamic range processing. The dual bands let you tailor the release time to it's most desirable settings for the low frequency band and for the high frequency band, This allows you to balance smoothness against peak stopping.

Another application is protecting the transducers in a multi-way sound system. By setting the band-split frequency to approximate the crossover frequency, you get the effect of having a limiter after the crossover. This function can even be applied to a single amplifier channel which is pushing a loudspeakers internal passive crossover network.

Composer has single and dual-band compressor/limiters in Mono, Dual-Mono and Stereo versions. A stereo compressor sums the two input signals into mono, processes them to derive the gain reduction value, and then reduces the gain in both channels by this amount. This prevents stereo image shifts caused by unequal gain reduction in the two stereo channels.

Split Frequency. The frequency that separates the two sections of a split-compressor/limiter. This control is only available on Split compressor/limiter modules.
