Version 3¶
The latest Crestron Modules are Version 3. They can be downloaded here:
The v3.0 Crestron modules are compatible with Composer hardware including Server D100, Radius NX, Edge, Radius 12×8 EX, Radius AEC, Prism, Solus NX, xControl, 2 Line Analog Telephone Interface Card, and the 2 Line VoIP Interface Card. The following control modules have been developed and will be available for use with the Crestron 2 and 3 series controllers:
- Volume Up/Down Control Module with User Limits
- Fader Set Control Module
- Button Push Module
- Preset Execution Module
- Controller Receiver Module
- Input / Output Selector Module
- VoIP Dialer Module and ATI Dialer Module
- Speed Dial Module / Speed Dial Store / Delete Phone Number / Name Module
The updated Crestron modules utilize command processor architecture to maximize efficiency and responsiveness. The command processor is responsible for all the data parsing to and from the Symetrix DSP which makes it more efficient for the individual control modules to operate. When the control ID’s match a particular control module, then the controller information is used and updated.

Note: Crestron v.3.0 modules were specifically designed to work with SymNet Composer hardware over RS-232 (baud rate 57600), TCP/IP or UDP/IP port 48631. These modules will not work with legacy SymNet hardware. If you have legacy SymNet hardware, please use the Crestron v.1.0 or 2.0 modules.
Version 2¶
The previous v2 modules can be downloaded here.
This first generation contains modules for the Symetrix; 460, Integrator Series (780, 760, 722), and for Symetrix Audio (8x8 DSP, Express Cobra, Solus). The modules work great for these units.
The DSP units which are programmed with Composer; Edge, Radius, must use a different set of modules, or the integrator must reconfigure the existing Version 1 modules in order for them to work with Edge and Radius. Please see the Symetrix Crestron Integrated Partner Modules Version 2 in order to control Edge and Radius. If you decide to use the Version 1 modules you can, you only must be aware of the modification that needs to be made. When the Version 1 modules were released earlier in the century, Symetrix was using SymLink Rings, with each DSP at a different address within the Rings. Rings were interconnected through CobraNet and each DSP device would either live within the ring connected by SymLink, or would be the Ring Master at address #1. The programmer which made the Version 1 modules wanted his modules to work throughout the entire ring, so he implementedCSG(Controller Set Global) commands. These CSG commands would work to fire off a Control Number throughout the entire ring, or only within a single box if the system was directly connected. To avoid the confusion of having to use the SU (Set Unit) command and to enable the firing of presets throughout the ring, the programmer only just implemented theCSGcommands.
The idea of the SymLink Rings interconnected by CobraNet has gone away in the DSP which are programmed by Composer. The use of theCSGcommand has not been implemented in the 3rd Party Control Protocol for Edge and Radius. Therefore, they will not respond to theCSGcommands sent by the Version 1 modules. The Integrator will either have to edit the Version 1 modules and change theCSGcommands to produceCScommands, or use the Version 2 modules.
The Version 2 modules will still work whether the processor is connected to the DSP via RS-232, or Ethernet using UDP. The main difference between those modules which have existed before, such as the Button Press, and Gain modules is that they useCC, orCScommands instead of theCSGcommands such as that which the Version 1 modules used.
Note:It is very important to notice that when Controlling Edge and Radius with the 3rd Party Control Protocol via Ethernet one must use UDP. The UDP Control Port Number has changed to48631. Legacy Symetrix units, those which are programmed with Symetrix Designer used and continue to use port 48630. This is not the case with the DSP which are programmed using Composer; Edge and Radius. Edge and Radius use UDP port48631to communicate when using the 3rd Party Control Protocol.
The Version 2 modules consist of:
Symetrix Controller Receiver v 2.0
Symetrix Gain Increment Decrement
Note:The Controller Divider is analogous to a Source Selector.
Note:The Controller Receiver is a Meter module.
Note:The Increment and Decrement Gain module is new. It uses CC commands.
Note:The Mute All works on the Integrator series as these units already have Control Number 9999 assigned to be a "Mute All". This module is simply a button press that takes Control Number 9999 to 65535.
Note:If using the Symetrix 761 Demo program for the TPS6, MC3, there are several Symetrix Control Numbers that you will want to Push Enable. A PUE command, along with a range is typically entered to enable Push on these Control Numbers.
Below is a list of some of the Symetrix Control Numbers that should be enabled in a 761 to effectively use the demo file.
