SymVue Introduction¶
The SymVue Graphic Control System is an elegant end-user/client add-on solution for Symetrix systems. It is used to control the common functions required for day-to-day operation of facilities. Composer provides the tools to easily create specific graphical interface pages, called Control Screens, for real-time adjustment and operation of Symetrix systems. Control Screens can be exported from Composer to the SymVue application. SymVue is an Ethernet-based control system designed to run on Windows-compatible devices running 7 embedded or higher.
Features
- Well-Designed Graphics - Composer includes high quality pre-built graphics of common audio objects (i.e. faders, knobs, meters and graphs) that can be edited. It also supports the .bmp, .jpg, and .png file formats for importing graphics into the screens.
- Multi-User Support - Up to 32 (software) instances of SymVue can run on a single PC. Multiple PCs can control the system simultaneously, each updating the others seamlessly.
- Security - An effective password security system governs access to the SymVue control system.
- Ethernet Control - Ethernet provides a fast and synchronized control solution using a standard network.
Ease of Use
Control Screens are easily created in Composer software and provide clients with the specific controls necessary to operate the system. Typical control functions include source selection of background music, zone volume control, and audio muting, but nearly any audio parameter in Composer can be assigned and controlled with SymVue.
Right-clicking on any control in Composer provides a Copy to Control Screen function that places a graphic of that parameter on a Control Screen where it can be edited. Each graphic's size, position, orientation, color, and labeling can be adjusted to customize the control interface.
The SymVue Export Wizard handles the separation of Control Screens from Composer to a simple stand-alone application. This requires no code writing skills or knowledge of hex or ASCII strings to establish system control. Functional, elegant, user control interfaces are just a few mouse clicks away.
Once the SymVue file has been exported, it can be transferred to a target PC on site for instant user operation. A special installer option allows installing just the components needed to run a SymVue file. That provides the end user SymVue functionality, but no access to the more advanced features in Composer.
Ethernet Control
Ethernet has advantages that make it a preferred control method.
- Multiple computers running SymVue can interactively control a single Symetrix DSP hardware device. Updates happen across the entire network because all computers running SymVue are synchronized with the hardware.
- A single instance of SymVue running on one computer can control multiple Symetrix units over an audio network.
- SymVue can provide remote connection to Symetrix audio systems via the Internet. Port forwarding or a VPN connection is usually required.
