Keyboard Shortcuts¶

Space bar Panning: Composer supports space bar panning for any Site View, Design View, Super-module View, Report View, or Control Screens that are too large to fit on screen. Simply hold the space bar then click and drag the view to pan around.

High Resolution Adjustment: Holding "Alt" or "f" while dragging a numeric, up/down, fader, knob will adjust in a finer or high resolution adjustment mode. Due to a Windows feature which interprets the release of the “Alt” key as a desire to shift focus from the application workspace to its menu, releasing the “Alt” terminates the drag operation. Because of this special action of the “Alt” key. an alternate way to signal hi-resolution mode is to hold the “F” key instead for “Fine” control. Using the “F” key, the user can switch between hi and normal resolution mode smoothly as many times as needed. This alternate key works for numeric controls as well. The logic is such that if either of the keys is held, the action is the same.

When the "Alt/f" key is pressed, dragging a numeric control drags the control at 1/4th the rate. Dragging without the “Alt” key already is fairly high resolution, the presumption being that a numeric control presumes a desire for precise adjustment.

The up/down control adjustment amount is already set in the properties window and holding the “Alt/f” key down changes the value by 1/10th the amount. Logarithmic controls have a similar change to the proportional adjustment rate.

The horizontal and vertical faders as well as knob controls can be adjusted in a high-resolution mode by holding the “Alt” key down, adjusting them at a rate of 1/10th as much.

For knobs, this only effects linear operation mode, not circular operation mode as the purpose of circular operation mode is to tie the adjustment to the angle of the knob. Knobs in circular operation mode also have the ability for variable resolution adjustment by varying the distance from the knob center.

The high-resolution mode changes are also made to SymVue PC. SymVue PC already had hi-resolution mode for fader and numeric controls but only using the “Alt” key. The changes are not relevant to touchscreens and support is not present for Control Server.
